Sunnbüel invites Sunnbüel to enjoy the great outdoors even in winter.
The Godi & Kari winter children's hiking trail leads through the snow-covered high plateau landscape near the mountain station and is specially designed for little explorers.

The dwarves hide near the mountain station and the Sunnbüel mountain restaurant in winter. The circular hike is around 2 kilometers long and can be completed in less than an hour – ideal for families with children.

Along the way, there are fun puzzles and tasks to keep young and old entertained. Some sections are suitable for short descents by sled or bobsled, while younger children can be pulled comfortably in a sled. Please pay particular attention to safety when going uphill and downhill.

  • Children up to 6 years of age travel free of charge.

  • With the SBB Junior Card or Children's Pass, children up to the age of 16 travel free of charge.

  • The Godi & Kari Kids Fun Card is available at the valley station and at the Sunnbüel mountain restaurant.

WINTER HIKE OVER THE GEMMI PASS

The Gemmipass has connected the Bernese Oberland with Valais for centuries. As early as the early Middle Ages, muleteers used this pass to transport goods across the Alps. Today, this historic route is the only known Alpine pass in Switzerland that can also be experienced on foot in winter.

The well-marked and groomed winter hiking trail starts at the Sunnbüel mountain station and leads across the wide Spittelmatte plateau up to the Schwarenbach mountain hotel. The trail continues towards Lake Daubensee, which is frozen over in winter and can be crossed. After the final ascent, you reach the Gemmi Pass. From there, take the Gemmi cable car down to Leukerbad.

This winter hike stands for distance and depth: for traveling at your own pace, for history, vastness, and experiencing the high alpine landscape.

Caution is advised when swimming in water temperatures around freezing point – do not underestimate the cold! Ice holes must be at least 50 m away from the Ice Walk. In addition, the SOS patrol must be informed about the ice drilling (+41 79 481 01 12).

Do not enter or remain in restricted areas (see signs, fences, yellow buoys). The frozen lake may only be accessed when it is officially open and only between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The area must be vacated before dark; please note the last gondola ride from the mountain station.

ICE SKATING
In order for Oeschinensee to be open Oeschinensee skating, the lake must freeze over completely. This happens extremely rarely, but if it does, information will be posted on our website. Entering Lake Oeschinen is at your own risk, and you must observe the information screens, notice boards, and barriers.

There are no facilities on site, such as changing rooms or similar, and no skate rental. If the ice is covered with snow, skating is not possible.
