Godi & Kari winter hiking trail in the snow – open approx. 45 minutes, 120 meters of elevation gain
Altelsblick winter hiking trail – open approx. 90 minutes, 200 meters of elevation gain
Gemmiweg winter hiking trail – open – approx. 90 minutes to Berghotel Schwarenbach, plus approx. 90 minutes to Gemmipass – Check status at gemmi.ch

Snowshoe Trails:

Ufem Stock snowshoe trail – open approx. 60 minutes, 220 meters of elevation gain
Spittelmatten snowshoe trail – open approx. 2 hours 30 minutes, 260 meters of elevation gain

Winter Timetable 2025–26

In winter, the cable car takes cable car directly to the sunny high plateau – ideal for winter hiking, snowshoeing, and peaceful breaks in the mountains.

  • cable car restaurant open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (last ascent at 4:30 p.m.)
  • February 14, 2026–March 29, 2026: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM – Early morning rides for all guests (Sat/Sun), regular operation from 9:00 AM on weekdays
  • March 30, 2026–April 2, 2026: Closed – Maintenance
  • April 3, 2026–April 6, 2026: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM – Special operation for Easter
  • April 7, 2026–May 29, 2026: Closed – Maintenance

Summer Season 2026

During the summer season, Sunnbüel is Sunnbüel for hikes on the wide high plateau, family trails, and alpine stages towards the Gemmi Pass.

  • June 27, 2026–August 9, 2026: 8:00 AM–5:30 PM – last ride 6:00 PM

Gemmiweg winter pass hike

The historic Gemmi Pass hike connectsSunnbüel Bernese Oberland with Gemmi–Leukerbad in Valais and leads through an impressive, snow-covered mountain world. For safety reasons, the winter pass hike is divided into two sections. Depending on weather and snow conditions, these may be open at different times. Before your tour, please check the latest information on open facilities, offers, and the condition of the trails.

Why not combine your hike to the Gemmi Pass with a thrilling sled ride? You can Sunnbüel the sled back to Sunnbüel in sections and experience winter from its active side.

Sleds are Sunnbüel at the Sunnbüel mountain station. Please contact the railway staff directly.

  • Please note the opening hours of the mountain railway.

  • Keep dogs on a short leash—wild animals avoid areas where dogs have been.
  • Avoid forest edges and snow-free areas.
  • Take all food leftovers and waste home with you or dispose of them at the official waste separation stations.
