Godi & Kari winter hiking trail in the snow – open approx. 45 minutes, 120 meters of elevation gain

Altelsblick winter hiking trail – open approx. 90 minutes, 200 meters of elevation gain

Gemmiweg winter hiking trail – open – approx. 90 minutes to Berghotel Schwarenbach (4.5 km / 250 meters of elevation gain), plus approx. 90 minutes to Gemmipass (4.5 km / 300 meters of elevation gain) – Check status at gemmi.ch

Snowshoe Trails:

Ufem Stock snowshoe trail – open approx. 60 minutes, 220 meters of elevation gain

Spittelmatten snowshoe trail – open approx. 2 hours 30 minutes, 260 meters of elevation gain

Winter Timetable 2025–26

In winter, the cable car takes cable car directly to the sunny high plateau – ideal for winter hiking, snowshoeing, and peaceful breaks in the mountains.

Summer Season 2026

During the summer season, Sunnbüel is Sunnbüel for hikes on the wide high plateau, family trails, and alpine stages towards the Gemmi Pass. Last ascent 30 minutes before closing time.

June 27, 2026–September 13, 2026: 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
September 14, 2026–November 1, 2026: 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Gemmiweg winter pass hike

The historic Gemmi Pass hike connectsSunnbüel Bernese Oberland with Gemmi–Leukerbad in Valais and leads through an impressive, snow-covered mountain world. For safety reasons, the winter pass hike is divided into two sections. Depending on weather and snow conditions, these may be open at different times. Before your tour, please check the latest information on open facilities, offers, and the condition of the trails.

Why not combine your hike to the Gemmi Pass with a thrilling sled ride? You can Sunnbüel the sled back to Sunnbüel in sections and experience winter from its active side.

Sleds are Sunnbüel at the Sunnbüel mountain station. Please contact the railway staff directly.

The Altelsblick circular hiking trail, which is around 4 kilometers long, is ideal for those who like to take their time. Starting at the Sunnbüel mountain station, it Sunnbüel in a sunny direction towards Spittelmatte, with unobstructed views of the Altels.

4 - GODI & KARI CHILDREN'S HIKING TRAIL IN THE SNOW

The Godi & Kari children's hiking trail in the snow is great fun for young and old alike. On the almost 2-kilometer-long circular route, the dwarves accompany young guests through the winter landscape. The route takes less than an hour and is also ideal as a short walk for adults.

Stay on the official winter hiking trails and marked routes.
Respect the legally binding and marked restricted areas and wildlife sanctuaries.
Avoid tours at dusk and at night.
Please note the opening hours of the mountain railway.
Take weather conditions into account and adapt your equipment to the circumstances.
Keep dogs on a short leash—wild animals avoid areas where dogs have been.
Avoid forest edges and snow-free areas.
Take all food leftovers and waste home with you or dispose of them at the official waste separation stations.
